About how Escape in her Travels came to be and what this travel blog will focus on.

Move to Travel Blog from Health & Fitness

Traveling has become a method of healing for me. It pushes me out of my comfort zone by learning a language, a culture, attempting a challenge, learning something new about the world and new about myself.

Travel has bonded me with my friend, who became my boyfriend- who became my Fiancé and now my husband. We have learned each other’s strengths, weaknesses and character in each other more strongly all because of travelling. As much as health and fitness are a huge part of my life, a bigger picture has presented itself over the years of my Foodfitbalance blog. Health and fitness has allowed me to travel and find out who I am in the grand scheme of things. My recipes, workouts, and fitness tips were all about consistency, which means they have not changed in the last 6 years. There are only so many ways to say: eat a balanced meal with whole foods, indulge when you want to, rest when your body needs to, count or don’t count macros, and progressively lift heavier at the gym. I have not stopped implementing these values and practices in my daily life, but FoodFitBalance to me has become more of a starting point instead of a finish line.

I started this blog as a guide into my health and fitness journey as it began and thrived in the last 6 years- it became a priority for me and I always had an end goal. Now that I met my overall end goal, I realized that health and fitness has no end, as it is a constant and consistent mindset that I will have the rest of my life. And the difference is that the mindset has become second nature to me now, which has allowed me to dive into my other passions easily. I accomplished my goal! I made health and fitness so consistent in my life that it is something that I no longer have to think about. I can travel and still naturally find time to eat well and workout, while enjoying myself and all that life has to offer. So as FoodFitBalance comes to a close, I would like to thank everyone that followed my journey and took my advice to heart! My FoodFitBalance instagram page will become my personal account and feel free to keep following on there.

So what is Escape in her Travels all about?

“To inspire all to travel uniquely & to escape reality when we can’t leave our desks”

FoodFitBalance has now evolved into Escape in her Travels and I am looking forward to bringing all of you on this journey! I will continue to write about my travels and my advice/opinions on specifics in each destination. I focus more on whole picture travel- meaning I will not be writing about budget travel or 5-star luxury travel solely, but a mixture of both. I believe in experiencing everything a place has to offer from local secret spots to typical tourist destinations! My method of travel is to see the most awe inspiring things out there- If I want to invest in awesome experiences, I will manage my funds to make up for that expense (i.e. through food, lodging, time of year, etc.). I do not stay in a high end hotel or spend money on an expensive experience unless it is one of the COOLEST places or experiences on my list. I work, I save, I plan to buy a house, and I still can travel not on a budget (unless I want it to be).

Escape in her Travels will be all about how I make that possible, what I have seen and what I will see! My posts won’t be about the “Top 10 things to see/do” but will be a story about my journey & discoveries. My goal is to bring you, my reader, with me on my trip and immerse you into the location through many photos and whimsical, descriptive text. It is equally about my escape from daily corporate routine and a means of escape for my readers. My mantra for this blog is that it’s a platform to inspire all to travel uniquely & to escape reality when we can’t leave our desks”. It really rings true for me as a millennial in a corporate world and I know there are many people like me of all ages (especially in these times) where we constantly long for a vacation, but are not able to go on one right now for a variety of reasons. This blog is a refreshing and exciting place for travel inspiration, personal guides, and immersive travel storytelling for those planning a trip in real life, in our heads, or simply just needing a mental escape during a lunch break at the office.
