If you are curious about how to plan a destination wedding and honeymoon during COVID-19, you came to the right place. Even when the pandemic is over, weddings will never be the same. The lessons learned during COVID-19 can help prepare us for all weddings in the future! Are you not finding ANY resources online about it? Keep reading to learn about my new travel series all about Destination weddings!

My Experience planning a Destination Wedding

Our wedding was a true fairytale in every way. From the obstacles that tried to rip us apart, to the happiest of endings and the most perfect month abroad. I married my best friend in France and we ran away together to live in France for a month to celebrate life, something we discovered to be so very fragile.

But what did people think?

There was backlash, there were disapprovals to still have the wedding we always wanted, but Michael and I looked into each other’s eyes and without speaking we knew we had the same feeling. If we could somehow still have the wedding we planned, shouldn’t we at least try and give it everything we’ve got? Shouldn’t we fight for the one thing that matters in this world, the one thing that speaks truth, that strengthens our hearts every single day? Love is worth all struggle and it was worth the battle we were preparing to fight.

Everything happens for a reason.

What once was a normal destination wedding, and the stresses that come with planning one, turned into a mission impossible movie when COVID struck. The mental and physical toll COVID took on everything, almost made our dream wedding…only a beautiful dream. But we did what we do best, we adapted and found a way when the doors kept closing, we found that one open window, opened just a crack covered in red tape. We should try right? Let’s try.

There is so much I want to talk about in this experience, so I am going to segment it all into multiple blog post series with the main goal of inspiring my readers to follow their dreams, no matter what life throws at them. Roll with the punches and just know that dreams are not only just meant to be dreamt. You can live them. And I hope all of you get to live them exactly as you imagined.

Sometimes they turn out different than what you hoped- but this is your path, and there are forces you can not control. However, sometimes there are forces of your own fate, your own story, that you can influence and change. At any moment life can grant or deny you, but the moral of this story is…always try. Always try and give it the best you can because that is all we can ever do in this life; hope for the best, hope for our future, and hope for things to work out for us in a beautiful way.

What will this Series focus on?

I also want to include blog posts about the logistics of our adventure! We were looking for guidance everywhere about so many topics and had to figure it all out on our own. I want to help future brides and future travelers by giving them some tips and lessons from our wedding and travel experiences in 2020. Of course the series will also include blog posts all about the various locations in France that we visited from the Champagne Region to Côte d’Azur and throughout Provence!

This series will include:

  • How to plan a unique destination wedding
    • Why we chose our destination
    • Finding vendors and venues online
    • Booking services and not being able to visit the venue or meet the vendors
      • Establishing the best online communication with them
  • Best way to travel with a huge wedding dress & accessories
  • Traveling internationally during COVID and living abroad for a month
    • How we planned in advance for France’s laws and measures that varied from the USA
    • How we even got into France when all borders were closed
    • What the new travel norm is and how to be prepared
  • Tips and lessons: What we took into consideration (and what we wish we did) when planning our wedding (in general and because of the COVID pandemic)
  • Travel Blogs of different regions in France
    • Luxury Hotels and charming Bed & Breakfasts
    • Our immersive itinerary of sites, activities, and beautiful villages

I hope you are all getting excited to delve into all of this with me- The wanderlust, the inspiration, the romance, and the Carpe Diem!
